2003 Edition Overview

Codex Alpe Adria 2003 took place on July 5th, 2003. The event was also known in the Amiga community as Amiga Alpe Adria.

Codex Alpe Adria 2003 covered the following areas of interest:

• Latest Amiga and alternative computing hardware and software developments
• Retrocomputing section, with a focus on Commodore systems (including prototypes and other quite exotic systems)
• Amiga/PC connectivity (networking, sharing hardware, reading disks, etc.)
• History of Amiga with hardware and videos (including collection of Amiga computers, prototypes, brand new Amiga videos, etc.)
• Commodore and Amiga hardware emulation
• Amiga demos

Conference

The following presentations were held:

• 11:30 - Jürgen Schober of point.design (official AmigaOS 4.0 on Tour organizer): Presentation of AmigaOS 4.0
• 12:30 - Jens Schönfeld of Individual Computers: Presentation of the C-One and Catweasel hardware and surprise announcement
• 13:30 - Andrea Bernardi and Mattia Tristo of the Italian BeOS User Group: Presentation of BeOS
• 14:30 - Jürgen Schober: Presentation of the AmigaOne hardware
• 15:30 - Jürgen Schober: Presentation (repeated by popular demand) of AmigaOS 4.0

Exhibit

Recent hardware and software developments were supported by friendly and highly-qualified people who were ready to answer the public's questions.

• The Bitplane crew presented its printed Amiga magazine
• Several developers of Cloanto IT srl were available to present and discuss old and new products
• Jens Schönfeld of Individual Computers showed a C-One prototype, the Catweasel and a network card for the C64
• Jürgen Schober of point.Design officially presented the latest pre-release version of AmigaOS 4.0 on several computers
• Max Tretene of Soft3 featured AmigaOS 4.0 running on AmigaOne hardware
• Virtual Works featured AmigaOne and other Amiga hardware
• Andrea Bernardi and Mattia Tristo of the Italian BeOS User Group presented the latest version of BeOS
• Logica's Gianguido Casonato featured Commodore and Amiga classics
• Genesi sent in its famous "VideoMicroWave" Pegasos PowerPC system running MorphOS

• July 6: "Nigun", Yiddish Lieder performed by Moni Ovadia and Carlo Boccadoro at the beautiful Sesto al Reghena abbey (near Pordenone, concert beginning at 21:00)
• July 6: Coro Polifonico di Ruda and Orchestra Sinfonica del Friuli Venezia Giulia play sacred music at San Giorgio church in Udine (concert beginning at 21:15)
• July 7: Jethro Tull from the UK and the Mahogany Gaspipes from Ireland playing on the castle hill in downtown Udine (this event is part of Folkest)
• July 7: Cesare Cremonini at Palasport Carnera (bus number 9 from train station area, concert beginning at 21:00)
• July 8: Procol Harum from the UK playing on the castle hill in downtown Udine (this event is part of Folkest)
